Call my blog: “Note to Self”
Found out on Ethan Allan furniture site that my style is Loft and Villa. Loft is energetic. Fashion-driven. Practical. Materials borrowed from industry, architecture, and nature. Clean shapes. Punches of color. Spontaneous and fresh. Kids and pets? Bring them on.
I went full circle today. I drove a full Enso circle from S.F. across the GG bridge, the Richmond bridge, to finally the Bay bridge. I do like living in California. Northern California, the bay area is a beautiful place to live. If only I had a job and community in which I was a part of.
Shopping:
Went to Heath and bought a large blue ceramic plate.
Went to Crate and Barrel outlet, and contemplated a 6’x9’ flower patterned rug for my bedroom. Got home and re-measured. I am clearer now that I want a 7’ x 10’ rug.
This morning, I spent time on the internet and went to the following sites:
HigherEdjobs.com. Am I qualified to be an art teacher? Do I believe in myself and my skills? What can I teach? Who will I teach?
What other skills or training or training do I need to get in order to be a teacher? I have to get some teaching under my belt in order to add them to my resume.
I looked up Santa Rosa Jr. College and mapquested it to see how far away the school is if I were to apply to teach there. It would be a one hour commute. Am I willing to commute for a job?
Note to self: read SRJC mission statement.
Note to self: read other teacher’s bio’s i.e. USF site to model my bio statement.
I looked at University of SF, where I worked for a short period of time, and looked up the open Program Assistant position. I also looked up the administrative job I held for a few months, and read the person’s profile who is working there now. Her resume is outstanding.
Note to self: How can I write myself up to be outstanding?
I then got a carried away looking at one and two bedroom apartments in Sausalito and day dreamed about moving to Sausalito. Would I leave this SF apartment? Could I leave this SF apt? I can’t move until I get employment.
Note to self: Look into art teaching in San Diego or Los Angeles, or southern California as possibilities.
I made a wonderful lunch: a shrimp salad in a honey mustard dressing. 222 cal, 3 fiber, 9 g fat
Met up with Catherine B. We had tea – she had green, I had earl grey. We sat in a coffee shop on Telegraph Ave. in Berkeley and then went into Shakespeare & Co. a used book store and I bought a Tao Te Ching book.
Note to self: for the next month or so, every day, open the book, read it and contemplate one thing you read.
Note to self: each day, work with the I-Ching book.
Note to self: from now on, with every book I order, I make a commitment to read every book I get! I will work with every book I bring into my world. I commit to working with a book for an hour a night.
New Year’s resolutions:
Read for at least an hour a day.
Walk for at least thirty minutes a day.
Work on art making for an hour a day.
Submit to art exhibits at least once a month.
Look for and apply for jobs at least an hour a day.
I love Ebu’s concept of creating a daily blog and then every six months publishing a book incorporating the writings from the six month journey.
I should ask her how she does this, what company she uses to print her book and print my own six month book.
Will I ever be a leader?
Will I get my shit together?
Will I get a tenure track teaching job?
note to self: John Cage created art working with the I-Ching...book of changes.
